Being able to identify question tags, especially during conversation, is an important skill. If you miss the tag on the end you can completely misunderstand the intent of the speaker.

For example "I couldn't buy you a drink, could I?", is the speaker's indirect way of offering to buy you a drink, which means they would like the pleasure of your company.
