Well of course you don’t need to learn another language. The question you should be asking yourself is, what are the benefits of knowing another language. Especially if you cannot speak the international language that everyone uses most of the time to communicate with the rest of the world.
English is the language of science, computers, diplomacy, and tourism. Good English increases your chances of getting a job in a multinational company within your home country or for finding work abroad. It’s also the language of international communication, the media and the internet. So learning English is important for socialising and entertainment as well as work! How many times have you been on holiday and you met a group of people from different countries. What language were they speaking, yes most probably English.
English opens up a world of entertainment.
Many of the world’s top films, books and music are published and produced in English. Whether you are a Netflix junkie or an avid reader of books and magazines, you will open up a wealth of knowledge. Think how rewarding a good read is when you don’t need to attach a dictionary to find out what you are reading. Take Music as an example. Most non speaking people listen to English music and enjoy the tune, but how much better would it be to actually understand the words. It’s the words that make a song great. Songs like, bye bye American pie, desperado, bohemian rapsody just to mention a few. Therefore, by learning English you will have access to a great wealth of entertainment and will be able to have a greater cultural understanding. No more reliant on translation or subtitles. Yeeeepeeee.
Is the internet your thing.
Do you know that over half of what you find on the internet is in English only. You can open up the real benefit of browsing if you can read and understand English. Try for yourself and see how many websites are only built with the English language and unless you use google translate, you will probably not stay on for long due to the frustration of not understanding what you see.
You can see how important knowing English can be. How more rich your experience would be in listening to music, browsing the web or for just communicating with the world.
Facebook and other social media sites have expanded to such an enormous rate thanks to the English language.
